In serving others we change the world. In serving others we are changed. Plymouth Church's Grants and major mission projects make a difference in Seattle, around the world, and in our own lives.
Plymouth Church's granting programs and major mission projects reflect a strong tradition of social innovation and support of other social innovators meeting needs in our community and world.
Plymouth dedicates 25% of its annual pledges to community service and social action. A portion of that money funds long-term major mission projects formally adopted by the congregation. Our current major mission partnersare Plymouth Healing Communities, which provides housing and companionship to homeless people who are also mentally ill, and the Alice Hooker Training Center, which provides vocational education for the community around our sister church Iglesia Morava in Managua, Nicaragua.
The remaining balance is available for grants, which the Community Service and Social Action (CSSA) Board administers. In response to input from the congregation, the CSSA Board developed a grant approach to create long-term change in the world, while supporting an array of community needs and maintaining our historical commitments to core ministries including Casa Latina and Mary's Place.
These programs enable our congregation to be open to God’s transforming spirit through service and connection with others.
