Welcome Village of Hope

Our partner for the next three years and beyond, The Village of Hope received Plymouth’s 2015's Change Grant. The focus of this partnership will be relationship-building, education and organizing around issues of racial justice.

The Village of Hope is a 10+ year old anti-racism organization grounded in the African American community in White Center, West Seattle. The issues they work on are local, regional and national in nature. The organization largely relies on volunteers to do most of their community and racial justice work. The Plymouth grant, totaling $105,000 over three years, will allow the hiring of an office coordinator, which frees volunteers to attend to critical work of community building and anti-racism organizing.

The Village of Hope’s application impressed members of Plymouth Community Service and Social Action Board (CSSA): “Plymouth funding will play a critical role in the project to help us strengthen and deepen anti-racist organizing partnerships across race. With our partner European Dissent, we propose to work closely with Plymouth Congregation members over the course of three years to develop a model for white congregations to engage in anti-racist organizing in partnership with communities of color. We would have a period of learning together about how racism was constructed in this country and how it can be undone…Our ultimate goal is to undo racism…and heal the community with creative community driven solutions.”
