A new year and people hope for change. They make resolutions to be happier, healthier, wealthier. Sometimes they have workable plans to achieve their goals. Sometimes they keep their resolutions.
We have just left a year which, for many of us, was filled with despair. In our personal lives, there may have been losses, illnesses, disasters large and small. In our lives as American and global citizens, this has been one of the most challenging years of our lives.
What will 2018 bring? Earthquakes, hurricanes, fires, bigotry, bullying, harassment, the destruction of everything we hold dear? It doesn't have to be that way. Face the new year with fear, and you will attract that which you fear. Fear paralyses. Have hope that you can do a little bit to make 2018 a better year than 2017.
What can you do? You can love those around you. You can be kind. You can support groups which have the ability to make a positive difference in our country and in the world. You can stand up for what is right and good. You can vote. Have hope that things will get better.
