Grades 5 and 6
Meets in Room 221
The teaching team for the Fifth and Sixth Grade class understands that students at this age are beginning their dive into adolescence where a network of friends and navigating social norms is of significant importance. In the Fith and Sixth Grade class teachers use the age appropriate Seasons of the Spirit curriculum to create lesson plans that engage the students on multiple sensory levels. The Fifth and Sixth Grade class also focuses on service and begins to engage the students to think about the connection between biblical values and broader social questions. Students create portions of the worship service and participate in local service projects. Through these experiences, students see tangible examples of the call to love mercy, act justly, and to walk humbly with God.
Engaging My Child
Children in grades kindergarten through grade 6 are invited to a time of gathering at 9:50 am in the lounge. We call this the “10to10” time and it ends at 10:00 am. It is a simple time where games, songs, a simple prayer, or other activities introduce the children to one another and to the day’s theme or scripture. The “10 to10” time ends with children connecting to their Sunday school teacher and moving to their classroom. Children are also welcome to go straight to their classroom at 10:00 am.
As a part of our Safe Church policy we request that parents pickup their child(ren) from their classroom at 10:50 am. If it is your child’s first Sunday at Plymouth then we request that you complete a registration form provided by the Sunday school teacher.
At any and every point in this process parents are more than welcome to participate and observe.
