Plymouth Congregational Church, Seattle WA, United Church Of Christ

Support Groups are formed periodically in response to need. Current support groups include:
  • The Long Term Illness Support Group is for those dealing with pain, chronic illness or long term health issues.  It meets the first Wednesday of each month from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in the office of the Parish Nurse, room 113 at Plymouth Church.

  • The Caregivers' Support Group is for those caring for their spouse and/or other family or friends.  It meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 12:45 pm for lunch and time of sharing and fellowship in room 221.

  • Family Mental Health Group is open to anyone who has a relative living with mental illness.  It meets the second Saturday of each month from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Plymouth Lounge.

  • Plymouth also makes space available to Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-anon groups.  AA meets every Tuesday at noon in room 322.  Al-anon meets every Friday at noon in room 322.

There are also consultation hours with blood pressure checks the last Sunday of each month 10:10 - 10:50 am and 12:10 - 12:50 pm at the Church Office in room 113.

These groups and activities are part of the Parish Nurse Program of Plymouth Congregational Church.  The program is facilitated by Susan Dittig, RN, a member of the staff. Please contact Susan with any questions or concerns you may have.

The focus of parish nursing is to promote wellness and optimal health and healing of individual members, families and friends of Plymouth Congregational Church, to enable each person to live a full, abundant and healthy life.

The Parish Nurse is a

  • Health Educator - providing opportunities for members of the congregation to learn about health topics and issues

  • Health Consultant - listening and discussing health concerns with members in their home, hospital, nursing home or at the church

  • Advocate/Referral Resource - serving as a liaison to connect people with community agencies

  • Coordinator of Volunteers - working with the Parish Care Board to recruit volunteers to help those in need

  • Facilitator - assisting people in bringing together faith and healing in their lives

  • Health Counselor - to whom members may turn when they need guidance and support for their health concerns
