Leadership Training February 11

February 7, 2017

9:30 am–12:30 pm, Saturday, February 11, Hildebrand Hall.

Leading the Church calls for our best efforts, energy and enthusiasm to have greater efficiency, impact and connection in our mission. In January, Congregational Council adopted a new format and time to meet for themselves and all Boards in 2017. The aim is to increase participation and reduce frustration by avoiding evening traffic and time away from family. We will meet every other month for a three-hour block second Saturdays: February 11, April 8, June 10, August 12, October 14 and December 9. Officers will meet with ministers in the in-between months and special meetings may be called as needed and directed by the bylaws. All leaders are asked to be present.

Newly elected leadership receive training the morning of our first 2017 meeting with new participants. ALL who serve on Congregational Council, Faith Formation Board, Community and Care Board, Community Service and Social Action Board and guests are invited to join us in Hildebrand Hall for an ALL TOGETHER training and visioning, led by Rev. Kelle Brown and Rev. Steven Davis and Al Wallace, Moderator. Light breakfast.

Groups then meet separately with their staff representatives, conduct business from their respective ministry areas, then return to the larger group for lunch, conversation and action items. Other committees will continue to meet on their scheduled times (Library, Finance, Investment, Community Investment).

We hope this new model of interaction facilitates greater experience of community, offers trust building and fosters broader communication and effective action as a Church leading the way forward into new models and means of being in ministry… doing justice, loving with mercy and walking humbly with God. —Rev.
