Join in the Call for Dignity and Respect for Workers

November 17, 2014

Black Friday 2014

As people of faith we are called to stand with those who have been marginalized and oppressed; we are called to speak out for economic justice.

The labor practices and income inequality between associates and owners exemplified by Walmart highlights the economic injustice endemic in our culture.  In the past 2 months, Walmart associates in over 2000 stores across the US have signed a petition calling for $15/hr and full-time reliable hours.  These courageous workers need their communities across the country to stand with them this Black Friday as they demand improved pay and consistent hours for Walmart workers and all workers.

Join the Living Wage Ministry of Plymouth Church on Black Friday:

When: Black Friday, November 28 -- Gather at 10:30 am, Action 11 am - Noon

Where: Lynnwood Walmart Neighborhood Market (note the address- there are two Walmart Stores in Lynnwood!) 17222 Washington 99

What to bring: Warm clothes, lots of love, and (if possible) signs that state your support of workers. We will also have signs and stickers as well.

Churches from the United Church of Christ are planning Black Friday Actions across the country as the first of four National Days of Action. By participating in this action, we will be standing with our fellow UCC brothers and sisters as well as thousands of workers, activists, people of faith, labor leaders, and members of the community from across the United States. I hope to see you all there!

Please R.S.V.P. to Jenn Hagedorn (206.265.2834 or jhagedorn@plymouthchurchseattle.org) Any questions? Want to organize another action at a Walmart Store near you? Contact Jenn.
