Ken and Barbara Dean recently joined Plymouth Church UCC. They attended First United Methodist in Bellevue for many years and continued after they moved to Horizon House several years ago. “The commute became too much, especially when Plymouth is so conveniently located,” said Barbara. “The first Sunday we walked into Plymouth, we knew half the congregation!”
The Deans, who have known each other all their lives, grew up in Seattle and have been married for 63 years. Both attended University of Washington, where they first met fellow member Betty Eberharter. Barbara earned her degree in design, textiles and art; Ken earned his degree as an electrical engineer and made his career with General Electric. The couple lived in Los Angeles and Cleveland before they returned to Seattle in 1990, where their two adult children reside. After Ken retired, they travelled full time in the U.S. and in Europe for two years, an experience that Barbara said was well worth the wait.
In addition to their Plymouth friendships, the Deans appreciate the music, friendliness and all the children at Plymouth. –Janice Randall
