Now that we have gathered and discussed (1) Identity (2) Mission (3) Endowment, you may ask, “What do we do now?” Be assured; Council takes this process seriously and plans to continue to find our path and take action.
Dr. Bill McKinney’s visit is part of the process. He met with over 65 Plymouth folks and received many more emails. His report will help Council and our Senior Minister determine what direction this church needs to take. I am sorry more of you could not meet Dr. McKinney and voice your concerns and desires for our church family. Please be assured he heard from a wide range of members presenting many opinions. Dr. McKinney will meet with Council this summer and give his report via Skype. Council will then work this fall with Rev. Cameron Trimble (Center for Progressive Renewal) who will join us to examine Dr. McKinney’s observations and help shape decisions that Council recommends.
October 3-4 will be a big weekend for Plymouth. Rev. Trimble will lead a Saturday workshop and preach on Sunday as we celebrate our 145th Anniversary.
Go to Plymouth’s website and click the Our Priorities button to peruse conversation comments. More information will be added as it becomes available.
The message to you? Be ready for change. We need to shake things up, approach engagement and formation in a way that will assure the life of this congregation will continue to serve others. Keep an open mind, listen and be receptive to new ideas. This is an exciting time to be a part of this church. I am confident that our best days are ahead. –Jon Palmason, Moderator JonPalmason@comcast.netSubscribe
