October 27, 2015
This is a very important week for Plymouth Church UCC.
Council met Tuesday, October 27, to receive the Action Plan prepared by our Implementation Team. This plan takes the McKinney Report from last summer and the workshop led by Rev Cameron Trimble in October, puts it all together and lays out a specific path to move forward. It is a powerful document that states our vision and who we are. Council accepts the plan, and we plan to distribute the document to congregation members. The Implementation Team is putting together a communication plan. Council will hold a number of informational meetings to explain the plan and answer questions. We will also share the 2016 budget plan. Watch for announcements in a variety of venues about times and locations for these meetings.
Council reviewed the process to become a “Just Peace” church. This is a national UCC-led program. The Peace Action Group, led by Adele Reynolds, asked Council to introduce the concept to the congregation. I encourage you to visit the UCC website, UCC.org, and learn more about this important designation that Plymouth seeks. More information and action will be taken in coming months.
The job description for our new Executive Minister position will also be reviewed by Council. We hope to post the position soon and begin the search process. This decision comes out of the McKinney Report that recommended an administrative person to manage staff and special projects.
The life of this church is vibrant and moving forward. I am so honored to be able to help lead Plymouth during these exciting times. If you have any questions, please call me at 206.232.2452 or email, JonPalmason@comcast.net. Blessings to you all.
