Council met Thursday, February 23. Council now consists of 12 members, five less than last year, and the result of our efforts to downsize the number of members to serve in leadership roles.
The first order of business was a report from the HR Committee: Nancy Parker, Phyllis Daniels, Nancy Smith, Mary Lee Parker, Margot Paige, Al Bushley, Al Wallace and Susan Berry.
They received six final candidates for Director of Church Operations, from nearly 20 who applied. The Center for Progressive Renewal screened the initial pool and now it is up to us to determine if we have a viable candidate. In the next few weeks, we will review the files and schedule interviews with the committee. We should have an update to the church before Holy Week. We also discussed the pending search for a permanent Associate Minister, which begins after hiring the Director of Church Operations. Until then, Transitional Associate Minister Kelle Brown continues to serve.
The Implementation Team met with Council and discussed the Action Plan, Version 2.0. The recent Leadership Retreat provided a good opportunity to receive feedback and suggestions as we continue to shape our strategic plan. We also discussed recruiting members for the various initiatives. We especially need to build teams for Membership Engagement, Faith Formation, Worship and Financial Sustainability. Please contact Diane Jacobsen in the church office if they want to volunteer to serve. –Jon Palmason, ModeratorSubscribe
