Originally from Southern California, new Plymouth member Rev. Donene Blair previously lived in the Seattle area for over 20 years. She moved to the Bay Area in 2004 to attend seminary at Pacific School of Religion and be closer to her daughter and family. “I missed Seattle so much that I moved back in July last year and live in Ballard.”
Donene grew up attending the Disciples of Christ, and feels like she has “come home” to the UCC. She was active in the United Methodist Church and worked in administration for several ELCA Lutheran bishops during her 20 years in Seattle. She graduated with a Master’s of Divinity in 2007 with an emphasis in chaplaincy and hospice care. Donene served as Director of Pastoral Care in an elder care community for seven years, and was ordained in the UCC. She was also certified as a Spiritual Director.
Upon her return to Seattle in 2015, she visited UCC churches. “I was attracted to Plymouth’s worship services, the preaching and diversity of the pastoral staff, Plymouth's service to the community and the outstanding music program. One of my first visits was to attend a summer SPARK! program. I found the people to be warm and welcoming, surprisingly so, for a large downtown church. I look forward to being of service at Plymouth in the areas of pastoral care, spiritual practice and retreats and spiritual direction.”Subscribe
