The Council met last week and approved the staffing plan for this fall. We are sending a letter to all members by the end of this week to share details. Council will hold an informational session at 10 am, Sunday, September 11. This will be the first of many opportunities for members to ask questions and help understand the path we recommend. Council also appointed a committee to work with Rev. Jan Van Pelt. This marks the beginning of our reconciliation process this fall. It will include the writing of a covenant to help us understand better how to work together as a congregation.
We said good-bye to Council member Jenn Hagedorn as she moves to New York City to enter Union Theological Seminary. She and Laura Robinson are both “Members in Discernment,” which means they have official status from their church as they continue their pursuit of a Masters of Divinity degree. We also bid farewell to Eppie Williamson, another Council member, as she begins nursing school in Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins University. May God’s blessings go with all three of them.
Last but not least, the Implementation Team met with Council to discuss the Action Plan. Work continues on this important document and we plan to have more visibility and opportunity for members to get involved. See further communication from the team in the Herald. Well folks, hang on tight! The ride is going to get interesting because life at Plymouth goes into full swing Sunday, September 11. I am excited for what lies ahead; we are a loving church dedicated to helping others. Bless, Bless. –Jon Palmason, Moderator
