Thank you to all who attended the recent Council Town Hall. Budget Chair Dan Landes led us through the proposed 2017 budget. Your feedback, questions and concerns were very helpful and will be considered at the next Council meeting 12:30 pm, Sunday, December 18.
We will prepare and submit a final budget to present in a special congregational meeting, 12:30 pm, Sunday, January 8 to vote on budget prior to our annual meeting. The budget vote takes place first, so we begin 2017 with an approved budget. This will also allow us more time to discern other church agenda items, including the Action Plan and covenant-building, at the Annual Meeting slated for 12:15 pm, Sunday, January 29, in Hildebrand Hall.
The review and approval of our budget is one of the most important responsibilities of the Council and congregation. To request an advance copy of the budget, please contact SDavis@PlymouthChurchSeattle.org or drop by the office after the Council adoption date, December 18. My term as Plymouth’s Moderator ends January 29, 2017 at the Annual Meeting, with Vice Moderator Al Wallace ready to take the reins. What an honor it has been to lead this loving community. I assure you that Council will continue conversations about our proposed covenant-building process, with the proposed covenant working draft being shared in the Herald, Sunday worship services, committees, boards and other church-connected groups. We plan to focus on our continuing exploration of a Collaborative Ministry model of clergy/staff leadership and continue work on Plymouth’s Action Plan. Watch for further details soon.
