Northwest Boychoir announces their Choral Tradition series for March 2017, premiering at Plymouth at 7:30 pm, Friday, March 17. Now in its third season, Choral Tradition celebrates the breadth and diversity of the classical choral repertoire with Joseph Crnko, conductor, Matt Goodrich, piano, Northwest Boychoir and Men of Vocalpoint! Seattle.
Program features Igor Stravinsky’s brilliant Symphony of Psalms. Composed in 1930, in the neo-classical style, this work was declared by Time magazine as the best classical composition of the 20th century. Stravinsky intended treble parts (soprano and alto) be performed by children’s voices, though due to the work’s complexity, it is rarely performed in this manner. This concert offers a rare opportunity to hear the symphony as conceived by Stravinsky.
The second part of the program is devoted to Vivaldi’s Gloria. As with the Symphony of Psalms, Vivaldi wrote his joyous Gloria for children’s voices. Tickets and more information available at NWboychoir.org.Subscribe
