December 5, 2017
This Sunday, December 10, after 11 am worship service, Church Council and Budget Committee invite the congregation to participate in a “Congregational Conversation” to learn more about our process and proposed 2018 budget. We will discuss our main priority areas for budget consideration, update stewardship campaign results to date and include your input from the recent Budget Survey. We will share information of how we journeyed from an initial $500K gap between revenues and expenses, and based on re-evaluation and other potential adjustments, is now 68K. If you attended our first gathering, come again and hear how your thoughts helped shape where we are now in the process. The opportunity to engage with each other in meaningful dialogue to serve this church’s ministry priorities is important, and we value this additional time to share and listen.
The called Congregational Meeting to vote on the 2018 Proposed Budget will be held after the 11 am worship service in the Sanctuary, Sunday, January 7, for the sole purpose of adopting our budget. Per our bylaws, the Moderator may call a special meeting of the congregation with advance notification of 10 days. We want to include as much participation as possible, so we offer these opportunities for “Congregational Conversation” and a “Special Congregational Meeting” to draw us together in our ministry activity and decisions.
Like last year, this will assist the operational ministry of the church to establish payroll information for the first pay period of the year one week later. Copies of the 2018 Proposed Budget will be available by Christmas Eve Sunday so the congregation will have two weeks to review and be prepared to vote. We look forward to sharing these important times of dialogue and decision and appreciate everyone sharing their vision and hopes for our life in covenant together! –On behalf of Al Wallace, Moderator and Lori Kaid, Vice-Moderator/Budget Chair, Rev. Steven Davis, Executive Minister
