Welcome Rev. Ed Park to the pulpit this Sunday, April 29. Seattle native Rev. Park was born to Korean immigrants who arrived in the 1960s. He grew up attending a Korean Presbyterian Church where his father served as an elder. When he was 14, Ed felt a call to full-time ministry. A Baptist minister took interest in his development and mentored him through college. He was licensed in 1993 as a Southern Baptist minister and commissioned by the North American Mission Board in 2001 to plant Sanctuary Church in the Capitol Hill neighborhood where he continues to serve. Sanctuary recently entered a process to join the Presbyterian Church (USA).
Ed is also a state licensed mental health counselor with a private practice in Madison Valley. He attended University of Washington where he earned a degree in Philosophy and met his partner of 24 years. They home-schooled their two daughters, one who is now working on her Ph.D at Stanford; the other works in the midtown Manhattan, NY fashion district. Rev. Park earned his M.Div. from Western Seminary Seattle (aka The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology) in 1999.
