All Invited to Youth-Sponsored Lunch

May 15, 2018

You’re invited! Sunday, May 20, please join Youth Forum for their annual Shareholder’s Lunch. What is a Shareholder’s Lunch? Through the years, the name came from Plymouth members who donated certain amounts in the form of “shares.” These shares were put toward the education and serviced-based mission trips for the youth each spring. In return for their donations, a lunch has traditionally been hosted when shareholders come and hear youth share their experiences from the trip. Bring a can of food to the Shareholder’s Lunch to help support their drive for Northwest Harvest.

While the name “Shareholder’s Lunch” stuck, we must acknowledge the generosity of the congregation exploded before we formally started selling shares. What an excellent problem to have! So, if you are reading this, consider yourself a shareholder and please join us for an afternoon of sharing and discussion. Baskets will be located on each table for the suggested donation of $20, and please feel free to attend no matter what. Funds will go toward the Spring 2019 mission trip. A printed report, written by youth, will also be available.

Please join us for a catered lunch at 12:30 pm, in Hildebrand Hall, in addition to slideshow and stories told by the youth about their trip to Campbell Farm. Campbell Farm is located on the Yakima Native American Reservation in the Yakima Valley. Over 90% of the people living on the Yakima Reservation live with the daily realities of surviving below the poverty line. The grace, hospitality and efforts of Campbell Farm work toward providing after-school care and food programs for their community. Their work heavily impacts families in tangible, overwhelmingly positive ways. We felt honored to be a part of the light that Campbell Farm spreads each day by living out the ways of the spirit rooted in love and service.

These mission trips greatly impact the lives for those who have the privilege to participate. Katie Stultz, Kevin Bechtold and I all went through YF together and once upon a time experienced a mission trip together. It is the greatest gift to give back to this community by leading the next generation toward awareness and action within our world. We thank you all for your faith in our youth. None of this would be possible without your relentless love and generosity. We hope to share with you our experiences as a thank you for supporting our most recent trip. See you Sunday, May 20! –With God’s love, Anna Colwell, YF Director
