Around 140 people came together at Plymouth Church last Thursday evening, September 15, for a warm and wonderful gathering at Plymouth Healing Communities’ 2022 Night of Hope. After time for connection and reconnection in the lounge and out on the terrace, with the Chamber Mates jazz trio playing in the background, attendees enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by Kaspars Catering & Events, which also provided the food at Plymouth Church’s 2019 150th Anniversary celebration.
After an opening prayer from the Rev. Dr. Kelle Brown, the dinner program included comments by PHC Board President Jane Dunkel and Executive Director Stephanie Monroney, a video featuring reflections by PHC co-founders Nancy Smith and Catherine Walker — both also present to celebrate in person — and the capable and energetic MC’ing and fundraising work of Fred Northup, Jr. Among the attendees were members of the Hofmann and Eng families, whose names grace two of the PHC properties, and various persons involved in the beautiful renovation work on PHC’s Eng House, which is located in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood.
Nancy Parker spearheaded the organizing of the event, and Hildebrand Hall was transformed for the evening. Nancy’s vision and attention to detail were key in making it a magical experience. Many thanks to all of the Plymouth Church members and others, including enthusiastic girls from Seattle Girl Scout Troops 40597 and 41025 who volunteered before, during, or after the event. The evening was a great success, both in raising money to support PHC residents and PHC’s supportive housing mission and in many, many other impossible-to-measure ways. Much gratitude to all involved, and for all of the generous support!
