Change is inevitable. If we did not realize it before, we certainly do now after living through the last two and one-half years of a pandemic. And no matter what the change is, it is never easy. I am writing to let you know that my time at Plymouth is at an end.
The church needs to bring its staffing costs in line with its budgetary needs, so some hard decisions must be made. A few weeks ago I had a conversation with Plymouth leadership where they proposed moving me to a half-time position as they could no longer financially sustain me in a full-time role. I was given some time to think about this to determine whether this worked for me. After much reflection I have realized that it does not work for me, and so I will be concluding my time as Director of Music and Organist at the end of December.
My eleven-year journey here has provided me with many blessings, and while I am sad to say goodbye, I know Plymouth will continue to do its best to work for justice and to spread God’s important message of inclusive love in the coming months and years. -Dr. Wanda R. Griffiths
