What do we do after the celebrations and congratulatory send-offs for our children who go on to college, military service or leave home to make their mark in the world in various ways? From the nest we created and nurtured them, our children spread their wings and fly away. When all the excitement and shuffling is over, home can become very quiet and lonely.
Empty nester’s grief is often an overlooked component in the lives of parents and guardians. Many of us have not fully prepared for this stage of our lives. A difficult period of transition, there is need for emotional support. Whether your nest is just emptied, or it has been a while, you are welcome to join us.
The Empty Nest Group offers a place in the Plymouth Church community where folks can gather and support each other in an environment of more than just friendly advice, but less than therapy. We will meet on Zoom 10 am to 11:30 am, four Saturdays, starting Saturday, November 6. Vicki Schoettle will serve as facilitator and Toni Arthur and June Hayakawa-Fung are the staff contacts for this group. Let us know you will be joining us and we can send you the link. -Toni and June
