“Portrait: A Tribute to Women in History” by Joey M. Robinson will be on display at Plymouth Church from March 17-May 5, with a reception for the artist in the Lounge following worship on March 17. This free public exhibit will consist of 12 acrylic and canvas paintings (24x36) depicting abstract illustrated figures. From artists to inventors, this new series pays homage to notable women who inspired American history. An expert of color and contrast, Seattle-based artist Joey M. Robinson crafts images that are stark, primitive and powerful.
Joey M. Robinson is an abstract painter, portrait artist, photographer and storyteller currently residing in Seattle, Washington. Mr. Robinson's work has been featured on the front pages of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer (P-I), the Seattle Times and the King County Journal as well as on the ABC dramatic television series, Grey's Anatomy. His 2003 show Movement at the Pitcairn Scott Gallery caught media attention for its massive canvases and bold, tropical colors that captured mood and motion in fresh new ways. In 2005 Robinson's Black Maids Tribute at the Art Institute of Seattle told in simple words and stark, compelling images, the stories of African American women who served as domestic servants.
