Take words with you and turn back to the Lord. --Hosea 14:3
Last Thursday the small but mighty Plymouth Library Committee, shown in the photo above (minus me taking the photo), enjoyed a return to Plymouth. In the morning we donned backpacks with notebook and pencil, setting out on our own walk through the church for a journey of reflection on what Plymouth means to us personally. In our own words.
Then it was a pizza lunch out on the patio on a beautiful sunny day with the amazing backdrop of downtown Seattle. Less grand than the Webb Telescope but no less miraculous, Ingrid Holmlund reflected on the fact that on looking out we could travel in time into Seattle’s history through the buildings on view, including our own Plymouth Church.
Then it was an afternoon of tough talk about what our stewardship of the library will look like moving forward, using Walter Brueggemann’s book, Journey to the Common Good. A call for churches to move from vision to imperative. Stay turned as we take you along with us in our journey into the future. But first a huge shout out to the custodian staff for their heart, care and expertise in helping to make the event a success.
