Join the Duwamish Tribe 11 am-1:30 pm Saturday, March 25, in celebrating the legacy of Princess Angeline at our annual tea social. This year we are focusing on the importance of sovereignty.
The annual Duwamish Tribe Princess Angeline Tea Party is a non-traditional offering featuring Jean Ramos's exclusive "sovereign tea," as well as thoughtfully selected green and black teas—paired with a special selection of hors d'oeuvres at our carefully crafted table settings.
The program will begin with a traditional blessing by Duwamish Tribe Chairperson Cecile Hansen, an update on the Duwamish Tribe's longstanding Federal Acknowledgment case, and a brief discussion on the importance and impact of native sovereignty from the Duwamish Tribe's government leadership.
Real Rent Duwamish is one of 5 organizations within Continuing Mission Support of Plymouth UCC 2023 operating budget. Funds are sent monthly to Duwamish Longhouse and Cultural Center.
We Acknowledge
Plymouth Church acknowledges the land that we occupy, which was stewarded by the Duwamishnpeople, the first stewards of this land. We also offer a labor acknowledgement for the African American enslaved upon whose backs this country gained much of its wealth, as well as the work and lives of others who emigrated to this country. In our journey to become more fully the church, we honor our social location of power and privilege, and our position to do justice within and in the world, and recognize that such a statement is only the beginning of the work to which we are called.
