Learn More About Women's History

Expanding on last week's Herald article focusing on Seattle women, Glenda Carper shared a Wednesday, March 8, Seattle Times article, "It’s Women’s Day. Here are 20 important WA women you should know about."

Glenda writes: "Women's History Month is especially important to us in Washington state because so many women have been influential over the years. This article is of special interest to Plymouth members and friends because it includes women we may not have known or heard about. One remarkable woman of Washington history we do know is Plymouth's own Dr. Maxine Mimms. Learn more about her life and achievements as well as those of the other 19 women chosen by the Seattle Times in celebration of Women's History Month. I think you will be as enlightened and fascinated as I was!"  --Glenda Carper

One way to continue exploring women's history is visiting The National Women's History Museum.

Women's contributions and accomplishments have largely been overlooked and consequently omitted from mainstream culture. The National Women's History Museum helps fill that void. To this end, the Museum serves to place women's history within current historical narratives because inclusive history is good history.

Founded in 1996, the National Women’s History Museum is an innovative online museum dedicated to uncovering, interpreting, and celebrating women’s diverse contributions to society. A renowned leader in women’s history education, the Museum brings to life the countless untold stories of women throughout history, and serves as a space for all to inspire, experience, collaborate, and amplify women’s impact—past, present, and future. We strive to fundamentally change the way women and girls see their potential and power.
