There are many opportunities to serve in the worship experience.

Scripture Readers

Scripture reading as a Spiritual Practice is encouraged at Plymouth. Reading the scripture lesson aloud is a vital element of worship. Lay readers spend time preparing and practicing the lesson before presenting it as part of Sunday worship services. Plymouth provides training, support and encouragement for anyone interested in participating in this ministry. Time Commitment : Duration of the service plus practice time at home.  Participation in Plymouth’s lectionary readers’ training recommended prior to reading.

Would you like to provide hospitality during the worship services by acting as an usher?  Ushers facilitate the flow of worshipers into services, provide worship bulletins, and collect offerings at each regular service and at special services as requested.  The ushers extend the welcome of the congregation to visitors and members alike.  Time Commitment:  1 – 1.5 hours at one of the two Sunday services, approx. once/month.  Each team has a designated Head Usher who has additional duties of counting the congregation and the offering after the service.  People are also needed to serve as substitute ushers when requested.  To find out more, please contact Betty Eberharter at

Bus Hosts

For some of our members who live at Horizon House (a local retirement community), it is difficult to physically get down the hill for church on Sunday.  To respond to this need, Plymouth Church provides a “Horizon House Bus” to pick up members of the congregation who need this assistance.  The job of the volunteer bus host is to ride the bus, provide companionship to the riders, and help them enter and leave the bus (with the help of the driver).  After the service, the bus host rides the bus back up to Horizon House to deliver them safely home.  The riders appreciate the help, and the bus hosts enjoy the company.  Time Commitment:  Approximately one hour every 2-3 months.  To find out more, please contact Don Gwilym at
