Plymouth is again sponsoring a Habitat for Humanity team to the highlands of Guatemala. Dates are February 22 to March 2, 2020. Minimum participant age is 16. We are staying in Panajachel, on Lake Atitlan. The work is 5 days of helping to build latrines or wood stoves to improve the health conditions of Mayan families, or possibly a house for a family who needs it. Our team size is expected to be 12 people. You don’t need to be experienced, or particularly strong, but this trip is not suited for those with mobility or respiratory health concerns. The base elevation is 5000 feet, and work sites may be 7000 feet or higher in small villages.
Cost is $1900, plus round trip airfare to Guatemala City. (Costs may be tax deductible, check with your tax advisor. Habitat provides proper documentation.) Partial scholarship funding may be arranged.
The lodging is comfortable and the food is delicious. Interesting cultural experiences are guaranteed! Bilingual Habitat staff are with us the entire time. The ability to participate in a team setting and to be flexible with unexpected changes are necessary.Subscribe
