Faith Formation Series Continues: 'Many Rivers to Cross'

February 25, 2019

Plymouth explores African American history in Faith Formation by showing PBS series The African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross. Watch a portion of the series and join the discussion led by Rev. Dr. Kelle Brown Sunday in Hildebrand Hall after worship. Here is a description of the series:

Written and presented by Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., director of W.E.B. DuBois Institute for African and African American Research at Harvard University, this series explores the evolution of the African-American people, as well as the multiplicity of cultural institutions, political strategies, and religious and social perspectives they developed – forging their own history, culture and society against unimaginable odds. Commencing with the origins of slavery in Africa, the series moves through five centuries of remarkable historic events. Throughout the  series, viewers can see that the road to freedom for black people in America has been like the course of a river, full of loops and eddies, slowing and occasionally reversing the current of progress.

Bring a lunch and join us for this meaningful exploration!
