Float Lanterns for Peace August 6

Join us for “From Hiroshima To Hope” 7 pm, Monday, Aug 6, on Green Lake’s northwest shore, near 7312 West Green Lake Drive North. This event marks the 73rd anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. FHTH is Seattle's only commemoration of the atomic bombings based on the Toro Nagashi lantern ceremony.

Honored keynote speaker Gilberto Perez (who with Senji Kanaeda leads the 2018 Pacific Northwest Interfaith Peace Walk that began in Eugene, Oregon) arrives the afternoon of August 6. Other participants include Emcee Stan Shikuma, popular Seattle drum group Kokon Taiko, singers from the Marshall Islands, (where United States tested the hydrogen bomb) and Playwright Nikki Nojima Louis, who will read her heartfelt piece, “To the United Nations.” Join us at 6 pm for lantern preparation and paper crane folding.
