April 16, 2019
As we take time to reflect during this Lenten season, please mark these key dates on your calendar.
Maundy Thursday, April 18 commemorates the foot washing (Maundy) and the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles. Rev. Dr. Kelle Brown will lead a contemplative worship in the Plymouth Sanctuary, 7 pm.
Good Friday, April 19 commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus, when Dr. Brown and six guest ministers gather to preach on The Seven Last Words of Jesus at 12 noon in the Sanctuary.
Easter Sunday, April 21, all are welcome to Sunrise Service at 6 am, in Hildebrand Hall, followed by light breakfast. Then, at 10:30 am, join us for Resurrection Worship in the Plymouth Sanctuary, featuring sermon by Dr. Brown and music by Plymouth Chancel Choir, Soul Choir, Plymouth Ringers, Brass quintet, Organ and Timpani.
Celebration of Life, begins immediately after worship in Freeway Park until 3 pm, with an egg hunt, games, live music and more fun for all ages. We often gather at rallies and marches; this day we gather to celebrate with joy!
Preparing for Easter Sunday, Celebration of Life event in Freeway Park following morning worship, we invite a team of volunteers to help plan and prepare for, and draw others into leading event activities. We would like to have many volunteers to facilitate activities, offer hospitality and welcome, host booths/displays/games and be present for other support needs. If you can be part of this team, please contact Brandon Burns in the church office, BBurns@PlymouthChurchSeattle.org, to share your interest.
Celebration of Life festivities include: bounce house, face painting, bean bag toss, ring toss, Easter egg hunt (2 hunts for different ages), craft table, Simple Church table (sign up and photos), blessing of the animals, food, fun and fellowship! Live music provided by Brian Waite with songs for kids of all ages and Super Krewe brass band.
Food booths serving tamales from La Panadería will be set up in the park and at Plymouth. Siblings Oscar and Felicitas started La Panadería to make a better life for themselves and their families and provide delicious, all-natural, fresh and locally-sourced tamales and baked goods in Seattle. Following traditional recipes, Oscar and Felicitas make everything by hand. Food booth is the only area of the event where people will pay (credit and debit accepted).
Plymouth Church UCC Worship is an online webinar through Zoom, and shared on our Plymouth YouTube Channel and Facebook pages each Sunday. Please join us for Worship, then for Virtual Coffee Hour following on Zoom.
