Sunday, December 3, the first Sunday of Advent, you are invited to enter the Sanctuary quietly and look up. Eighty veils suggesting “the people who have walked in darkness and have seen a great light” will gently move above our heads in a breeze of blessing for those of us who walk this path today towards Christmas and the coming of the Light of the World.
Through the vision and joyful labor of many hands, we offer this installation as an invitation to experience the Divine more deeply. We hope you find a place among the perfectly imperfect veils that have both darkness and light within, as we do. We offer these witnesses as a prayer to those who have come before us, for those in this time and place and those who walk this way toward the light after we are gone. We look to God for the breaking of oppression and healing in the land. Let us stand together with one voice as we watch, fight, and pray with life prioritized.
