Black Lives Matter, Love your LGBTQ Neighbor, Do Justice, Love your Muslim Neighbor…these are a few banners that hang proudly on our building to share who we are and what we stand for at Plymouth. Recently, our beautiful rainbow banner disappeared from the second-floor railing that faces Sixth Avenue. Since the banner was attached by zip ties, and no trace was left behind, we like to imagine it hanging somewhere continuing to inspire with its simple, affirming message.
When PNCUCC Minister Rev. Mike Denton heard about the loss, the Conference offered to replace the banner! So once again, the rainbow banner hangs proudly, along with our other banners, stating for all passers-by what the UCC and Plymouth Church are all about. Thank you to the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Church of Christ and Rev. Mike Denton!
This year, Pacific Northwest Conference congregations seek to expand our efforts to support PRIDE and promote Open and Affirming Congregations. Olympia (Sunday, June 10), Seattle (Sunday, June 24), Tacoma (Sunday, July 22). Show your support in Seattle, at two other Pride booths, in our own Seattle Pride Parade and Pacific Northwest Conference UCC booth!
Plan to be present for all three events if you can! Support other Open and Affirming Congregations; march in the Seattle Pride Parade or help support a time slot for hospitality at the booth. Here’s another chance to be LOVE IN ACTION as the people of inclusion at Plymouth Church UCC!
Plymouth Church UCC Worship is experienced on our Plymouth YouTube Channel and Facebook pages each Sunday through September 4, 2020. Please join us for Worship, then for Coffee Hour ONLINE following on Zoom.
We look to God for the breaking of oppression and healing in the land. Let us stand together with one voice as we watch, fight, and pray with life prioritized.
