Mothers Resist at Northwest Detention Center

All are invited to attend the 10th annual Mother’s Day Vigil at the Northwest Detention Center, noon to 2 pm, Saturday, May 12, 1623 East J Street, Tacoma. Bear witness to the inhumane impact of detention and deportation of community members; pledge faithful resistance to systems that continue to criminalize community members; and draw strength from one another’s diverse spiritual and faith practices.

Traditional Aztec dance group CeAtl Tonalli, launch the event. Bring flowers to hang on the prison gates, a traditional act of family solidarity. Bring chairs or blankets for seating. No restrooms are available on site. Event is hosted by The Church Council of Greater Seattle, Oregon Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice, University Unitarian Church , Our Lady of Guadalupe Episcopal Church, la Banda Gozona and Trio Guadalevin.
