Pride
In 2005, the General Synod of the United Church of Christ voted to support marriage equality. You may remember the consternation and dismay amongst some UCC churches and members. Then, only one state (Massachusetts) had legalized same-sex marriage. In the following years, more states legalized same-sex marriage, and in June, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution allows same-sex couples to marry, effectively overturning remaining restrictions in all states. This illustrates one example of progress, but we are now at a point where hard-won victories are at risk.
This Sunday, the 44th annual Seattle Pride Parade takes place. Participate and celebrate! Allow extra time to get to church and wear your PRIDE! – Suzanne Sanderson, Plymouth Librarian
