UCC Global Ministries Committee invites individuals to travel to Puerto Rico for a mission beyond rebuilding houses. Hurricanes Irma and Maria caused severe damage across the island in 2017. The people of Puerto Rico are resilient and seek partners as ambassadors and friends. Help repair and rebuild homes, build relationships and learn about life and the church in Puerto Rico.
Guided by Randy Crowe, who led similar trips to Louisiana after Katrina, group will be housed at a Disciples of Christ Church camp. Repair work includes exterior work (roof repair, installing windows and doors). Interior work may include cleaning, painting, flooring and wall repairs. Building skills helpful but not required. Spanish knowledge is helpful. Youth 16 or over may apply. A responsible adult must travel with youth. Cost is $315 for the week plus your own air fare to and from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Our group can be up to 25 persons.
Scholarships are available. Register at pncucc.org. Click on N-Sid-Sen. Then click on REGISTER. Complete form and make credit card payment. $300 goes to our partners in Puerto Rico for housing, food and transportation to and from work site.
