Refugees Northwest Foster Care invites you to their Graduation Dessert. Join them for an evening celebrating the class of 2019! They will honor this year’s graduates, hear their reflections and words of wisdom, and celebrate with some tasty treats on 6:30 - 8 pm Thursday, July 25, on Mercer Island.
Each second Thursday these refugee and immigrant youth and their foster parents & counselors have been meeting for supper and classes to guide the youth toward adulthood & coach the foster parents. For the past two years their suppers have been prepared by a team of cooks from Plymouth and Faith Lutheran Church. We have been having a good time cooking, serving and mingling with these families. We watch as their teens from many different countries and backgrounds develop the skills to survive in the US and leave the program at age 21.
This evening is a special time to celebrate with the older students and their families. It would also be a good time for anybody who might wish to learn about the program and might consider joining our select team of cooks to start a conversation.
