Thank You, Deacons

October 22, 2019

When the first church began, apostles who worked in leadership quickly determined they needed help. In Christian Scriptures, Deacons were called to serve in Acts 6. Deacons offer an extension of church ministry; they journey through difficult times with others while ministering to one another.

Those who feel led to this ministry commit and covenant to support clergy with prayer, time and talent for the benefit of the church. Deacons may be any gender identity, ability and age, if the person is able to commit to duties as assigned. This ministry allows us to care for each other in compassionate and holistic ways, and empowers us to balance the work of clergy while gifting blessed hands and hearts of the church with the care of one other.

On Sunday, October 20, Tom Maul, Kathy Rood and Floyd Gossett were commissioned Church Deacons. As Deacons, they will assist with many aspects of church life including pastoral care, worship leadership participation, assisting with communion and outreach as assigned. We thank them for stepping into this vital ministry.
