Recovery Cafe invites Plymouth volunteers

March 26, 2014

In 2013, Plymouth’s Community Service and Social Action Board (CSSA) awarded the Change Grant to Recovery Café, a downtown refuge for healing & transformation. The annual $35,000 grant runs three years. Importantly, this Change Grant also connects Plymouth members and friends to the Café’s work with many available volunteer opportunities:

Ministers of Presence: Visit with members up to two hours a week or every other week, listen with an open heart. Have a cup of coffee, play cards or just provide a welcoming presence.

Ministers of Service: Work alongside member volunteers in the kitchen, preparing food or washing dishes. Shifts available Tuesdays through Saturdays between 11 am and 6:30 pm.

Open Mic Hosts: Gather a group, prepare and serve an evening meal third Saturday of the month.

Outings Coordination: Plan an outing or participate in scheduled Walking Club outings.

Administrative Tasks: Help with mailings, data entry, etc.

New volunteers are encouraged to attend orientation offered once a month. Upcoming orientations are: 6 pm, Thursday, April 17; 1 pm, Saturday May 17; 6 pm, Thursday, June 19; and 1 pm, Saturday, July 19.
Monthly coffee hour, 8:30 am, first Thursday each month, provides a tour and program overview. Contact Plymouth member Anne Mohundro about becoming a Minister of Presence: She’s been a weekly Café volunteer for over two years and would love to talk with you!
