Council Corner: What's Going On?

March 3, 2015

The 2015 Congregational Council held their first meeting Tuesday, February 24. We gathered with a sense of excitement and passion as we plan and address the Church's priorities for the coming year. Our first order of business was to review the Annual Meeting and reflect on what transpired. We all came away grateful that we had serious discussion with respect and love for all. We also discussed CSSA's recent presentation regarding major Mission Projects. The Moderator and Chair of CSSA will meet soon to learn more about CSSA's plans for 2015 major mission projects.

-Focus of the meeting reviewed upcoming events:

-Leadership Retreat for Council, Board and Committee Members March 7, 9 am-12 pm, Mercer Island Congregational Church

-Celebrate the arrival of the Pipes! Help unload the new organ pipes into the newly renovated Sanctuary, following the 11 am service, Sunday, March 8.

-Opening of new Sanctuary, March 29, Palm Sunday

-Adult Forum, Sunday, April 12 led by Council as we begin our Plymouth “Priority” discussions

(Horizon House discussions, Thursday, April 16)

-Church wide luncheon, Sunday, April 19, followed by our first opportunity to discuss priorities.

Following April discussions, we will hold other Adult Forums in May and June followed by more opportunities for discussion and feedback.

Council has a full plate! We also focused on reaching out to all members. Council members will call to make sure you are invited to the “Pipe Raising,” re-opening of the Sanctuary and the spring discussion series. Hospitality and Parish Care are both key objectives for the Council.
