UCC General Minister and President Comes to Plymouth!

November 15, 2015

Plymouth extends a warm welcome to Rev. Dr. John Dorhauer, General Minister and President of the United Church of Christ. He plans to share insights on his current projects and looks forward to talking with members of the Pacific Northwest Conference 9:30 am, this Saturday, November 21, at Plymouth. Afternoon workshop sessions offer discussion around local church health; our Justice Leadership Program, stewardship and financial management best practices and framing new models for small group ministries.

Rev. Dorhauer will speak at the 10 am Forum and preach at Plymouth’s 11 am service on “Where all are Welcome.” He then heads to Spokane, where he preaches at Westminster UCC's new 5:30 pm service.

Dorhauer grew up Roman Catholic in St. Louis, Missouri, and spent eight years in Catholic seminary. He earned his Master’s in Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary and was ordained in 1988 as a Protestant minister. He has since served on the local church level as well as Conference staffs.

In his new book Beyond Resistance: The Institutional Church Meets the Postmodern World (available for sale this weekend) Dorhauer takes an inspired and courageous look at an age of transition for the life of the Church and offers creative new ways to approach ‘Church’ and faith in post-modern society.

“…Our best days in the Church are ahead, and John, through his vision expressed in the book, is leading the way,” says Rev. Cameron Trimble, CEO, Center for Progressive Renewal.
