People Have the Power: Rally Celebrates Power to Change

Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee invites all to the 34th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration with workshops, rally and march Monday, January 18. This year's theme is “We Have the Power to Make Change.” Find a list of 17 Workshops (with descriptions & presenters) at and Plymouth's 2nd floor bulletin board.  

Event starts at Garfield High School, 400 23rd Ave. at East Jefferson. Workshops held from 9:30 am to 10:50; rally held from 11 am to 12:30 pm in the gymnasium; and march begins at 12:30 pm March will conclude at the Jackson Federal Building, 2nd and Madison, downtown Seattle, with an outside rally at 1:45 pm

Organizers encourage all to continue the call of Dr. King to work nonviolently for racial equality, economic justice and peace. We have the power to make change. A great leader, he did not work alone. Dr. King respected people of all religions, and those without religious ties. Working together, we can abolish racism, poverty and war and build a beloved community inclusive of all.
