Speaking from Plymouth’s pulpit, we heard Hillary Evans, Plymouth Healing Communities’ new Executive Director, describe the challenges we all have making a place for those among us who experience mental illness – one in five each year. As Hillary asked May 15, “How do we create a place for and celebrate sensitive, creative, emotionally wounded and unusual people and even for ourselves?”
Since 2000, PHC, including our House of Healing, has been laser focused on doing just that, thanks to our outstanding partners Plymouth Church, Harborview Mental Health Services, Community Psychiatric Clinic and the Mental Health Chaplaincy. PHC now has 44 residents in five locations including four residents plus four companions living side-by-side at the House of Healing.
As Hillary said, we are so grateful for Plymouth’s Major Mission support! That support, coupled with others, make PHC’s housing and companionship program successful. Again, thank you.
