The National Religious Campaign Against Torture prepared several petitions you may want to sign at the Plymouth Welcome corner during July.
Close Guantanamo: The Guantanamo Bay prison is a symbol of torture and detention without trial, and a violation of our country’s deepest values.
End prolonged Solitary Confinement Now: Experts estimate tens of thousands of prisoners in the U.S. criminal justice systems are currently being held in solitary confinement, mostly in state prisons and some in immigration facilities. Typically, prisoners are kept in these conditions for 23 hours a day, some for months, years or even decades.
Petition for New Limits on Lethal Drones: Lethal drone strikes are used to distance soldiers and politicians from realities of war. Morally, our country must take responsibility for every person we kill. We seek new limits to protect civilians, and encourage capturing rather than killing.
Plymouth Peace Action Group encourages you to read these petitions and sign if you agree. Deadline to sign is July 30.
Plymouth Church is open to the public Thursday, February 14, beginning at 9 am.
