New in Covenant: Alison Bateman and Eric Templin

April 24, 2018

Welcome Alison and Eric to Plymouth! They plan to marry at Plymouth in June, their ceremony officiated by Rev. Steve Davis.

The couple met at Purdue University in their senior year of college. Eric grew up in Granger, IN. His family attended Granger Community Church. Ali grew up in Norristown, PA and she attended Friends Meeting schools in Philadelphia.

“As young adults bringing our families together, we wanted to find a community and home here in Seattle. We have found that in Plymouth,” they said.

Currently, they live in Belltown. “We love how close it is to the water and all the cool restaurants.” In their spare time, they enjoy traveling, visiting family, date nights, yoga and hiking.

Since 2015, Eric has worked as a software engineer at Amazon Web Services. Ali recently started working at DoorDash in their PNW sales organization.

Alison and Eric shopped churches in Western WA in 2016 and did not find a home. “When we met Rev. Steve in January 2018, we immediately felt welcomed. Over the next three months, we attended 9 am services, and got to know Rev. Brown, Rev Davis and the entire community. We really feel the community is one of compassion, love, social justice and inclusion. That’s how we knew it was the right place for us.”

Ali says she is most inspired by my mother. “She raised me and my sister, working day in and day out to support us. She is my hero and the most selfless person I know. She encouraged us to educate ourselves, not just academically, but worldly as well.”

Eric is inspired by the work he does. “I know that there are billions of people in this world and knowing I can have an impact on such a large level really inspires me. My work propels me to ask questions, question the status quo and improve each day.”
