Saturday, May 12, Rebecca, Rachael and Henry, our guests from Beacon of Hope School in Soroti, Uganda, will spend the day talking with us and sightseeing in downtown Seattle. Come enjoy their company and hear about their lives and Beacon of Hope School. Share with them what you enjoy about Plymouth Church and living in Seattle. They are unable to worship with us Sunday because they are scheduled to attend another church. Scholarships given by Plymouth Church through the CSSA Board provide a quality secondary education, housing, food, medical care, school uniforms and supplies for students like Rebecca at this Pilgrim Africa school. This is our opportunity to offer welcome and hospitality in person.
Rebecca is 16 years old, strong, smart and determined. Growing up in rural Katakwi, one of Uganda’s highest areas of malaria, has deeply affected her family and her life. She excels in her studies and enjoys competing on the robotics team. Rebecca's goal is to become a doctor and help end malaria in Uganda.
Rachael, also from the Katakwi region, graduated from Beacon of Hope school and expresses gratitude for the six-year scholarship which enabled her to attend secondary school. She earned a scholarship from the Ugandan government to study orthopedic technology. Rachael is currently a key member of Pilgrim Africa's Katakwi Rotary Malaria Project. The team describes her as ‘brilliant, charismatic and full of love for the Lord.’ Rachael hopes to continue her work in Public Health.
Henry, administrator at Beacon of Hope School, is accompanying Rebecca and Rachael. He is deeply invested in supporting their staff and students.
Open your hearts and prepare to be changed by this opportunity to share all or part of the day with our guests. Please contact Carol Mooney for details.Subscribe
