Icelandic Choir Performs at Plymouth

Fóstbræður, considered the finest male choir in Iceland, performs at 7 pm, Monday May 7, at Plymouth. The concert, “The Shining Night” consists of traditional and contemporary songs from Iceland, Scandinavia and North America. Tickets are $35/per person, available in advance through or at the door.

One of the oldest music institutions in Iceland, the choir has performed since autumn of 1916. Male choirs have a strong tradition throughout Scandinavia. They also perform at the grand opening of the new Nordic Heritage Museum in Ballard, 4:15 pm, Saturday May 5.

The conductor composer, pianist and Music School Schoolmaster, Árni Harðarson is the choir’s Artistic Director and has among other things provided the choir with new compositions and arrangements during his conductorship. Pianist Steinunn Birna Ragnardsóttir, one of Iceland’s leading pianists and CEO of the Icelandic Opera, will accompany. The Icelandic Club of Greater Seattle hosts.
