Three hundred volunteers are needed to help package 74,000 nutritious meals at Gethsemane Lutheran Church 12:30 pm to 5 pm, Friday, June 8, and 9 am-3:30 pm, Saturday June 9. When: Friday, June 8, 12:30pm-5:30pm and Saturday June 9, 9am-3:30pm
What: We are packaging 74,000 nutritious, shelf-stable, easy-to-prepare meals for food insecure neighbors in Western Washington.
How: We need to raise $22,500 and sign up 300 volunteers. Food is distributed through schools, food shelves, religious communities, and other nonprofits in Seattle and surrounding counties.
Volunteer Sign Up
There are 2 shifts on Friday and 3 on Saturday. Each shift runs 3-5 assembly lines with 12 people on each line and 2-4 runners.
There are 3 lines strictly for families with young children. Choose these lines if your children need a 1-hour experience rather than a 2-hour experience. If your child can volunteer for 2 hours, sign them up for a regular line.
Sign up for a regular shift here (options include set-up help on Thursday, assembly line volunteers, runners who re-fill lines with bulk product, and clean-up help). Remember, children are welcome on the regular shifts if their enthusiasm extends to two hours. If your workplace or school offers volunteer release hours, please take advantage of that by organizing a Friday team! Friday times can be adjusted to fit your team's schedule.
Sign up for a one-hour children's line here. Please enter each member of your party separately in the sign-up form even if you use the same email for each of them.
If you'd like to adopt an entire line, please contact Pastor Kari Lipke to let her know you are doing so. We ask that anyone who adopts an entire line commit to fundraising the $1350.00 it costs to run that line if possible. There is flexibility on FRIDAY if you need/want to run your team at a different time than those scheduled.
We actually have two 2018 Give.Share.Eat. events on the calendar -- June 8-9 and September 28-29.
Combined these events will cost $45,000 which translates into 148,000+ meals for hungry people in Western Washington, and will bring the total packaged in Seattle to just over a quarter million meals in one year's time!
