Christine Hanson grew up in the University Congregational Church and was married there in 1968, to her husband Don. He died in a tragic accident in the mountains five years ago. She has two sons and daughters-in-law and four granddaughters.
Christine earned her Master’s degree in education at the University of Colorado. She taught both elementary school and middle school for 23 years. “I have been moderator at two UCC churches: Northshore UCC and Peshastin UCC. I have been moderator of the Pacific Northwest Conference of the UCC 2012-2013.” Christine also served on the Executive Council for the UCC which met at the Church House in Cleveland twice a year for six years.
“My husband and I ran a back-country resort deep in the mountains near Stevens Pass which we bought in 1994. I recently sold the business and my house in the mountains and moved to the Sand Point area where I live with my two cats. I love to hike, backpack and ski. I also love to weave.” Christine is currently the Program Manager for the Justice Leadership Jubilee Program based at Keystone UCC.
Why Plymouth? “I was looking for a church that would help me move forward in learning more about justice issues and actively working toward a more just world. I wanted a diverse church family that would support one another and understand that we work to do our best as church and we don't always get it right. I did not want a comfortable worship experience.”
“I am inspired by those who are the voice for the less advantaged…who work tirelessly towards justice for all....with very little reward. I hope I can contribute to the Plymouth community in a positive way.”
THE CHURCH BUILDING IS CLOSED.
