Event has been cancelled because of health concerns related to the spread of the novel coronavirus.

With heavy hearts, Seattle Womxn Marching Forward has voted NOT to gather at Beacon Hill Playfield for the 2020 Womxn’s March on Seattle this coming Sunday, March 8. This decision is due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak in King County, and influenced by the most recent recommendations released by public health.

We did not come to this decision lightly. We stand in solidarity with API Chaya, who postponed their International Working Women's March earlier today. We listened to our beloved marchers, who have expressed growing alarm every day for the last week. Our considerations were also with our young organizing leaders, our immunocompromised sisters, and our elders. We could not put you at risk. Your voices matter too much.

Womxn's March has never given up easily and we’re not about to start. We have decided to host THE NEXT REVOLUTIONARIES online: same day, same time. We’re still hammering out the details, but we will livestream the speeches slated for the march and we hope you’ll join us in spirit, if not in person. Over the next two days we will share updates about how you can participate on Sunday and beyond!

We want to thank everyone who donated both time and money to this year’s march. Special thanks to our sponsors, including North Seattle Progressives and the American Association of University Women, and to the 70+ donors whose contributions reminded us that the Womxn’s March is worth the effort. We plan to continue organizing events throughout 2020 and we will maintain our momentum and collective fight for justice! We plan to use march funds to support these events, but for those of you who donated and would like a refund of your donation, please contact Liz Hunter-Keller at LizHK.swmf@gmail.com with your name and the amount you donated.

Stay safe, Seattle. We love you.

In solidarity,

Seattle Womxn Marching Forward
